IK10 and IK09 for LifEx series linear lighting fixtures with and without protective cage
The EVL and SLED series floodlights were subjected to impact tests reaching the IK11 resistance level, a new code introduced last year in the V1 Variant of the CEI EN 62262 Standard (2008 edition).
The CEI EN 62262 Standard describes a method for classifying the degrees of protection of enclosures for electrical equipment against external mechanical impacts when the rated voltage of the protected equipment is not higher than 72.5 kV. The Standard is applicable only to enclosures for equipment for which specific Standards establish the degrees of protection against mechanical impacts.
Variant V1 introduces the code IK11, an example of a enclosure capable of resisting an impact energy of 50 J, i.e. resisting the impact of a mass of 10 kg from a height of 0.5 metres.
The LifEx linear lighting fixtures have also been subjected to impact tests, reaching an IK09 (up to 10J) for the version without cage and an IK10 (up to 20J) for the version with protection cage.
